A Taste of Home
Every summer in Sicily, the air fills with the smell of ripe tomatoes.
When I was little, that time of year meant one thing: sauce-making season. My mum would fill the kitchen with baskets of tomatoes — bright red, still warm from the sun — and spend the day turning them into sauce to last through the winter.
I’d “help”, of course… which mostly meant sneaking spoonfuls (or sometimes even drinking it straight from the fridge when no one was looking!). That flavour — sweet, rich and full of sunshine — is one of my happiest memories.
It’s amazing how something so simple can hold so much joy. That’s exactly what I think of every time I taste this sauce.
David loves it too, and together we’ve been on a mission to find the most authentic, beautiful Sicilian tomato sauce we could share with you.
The Secret of Pachino
Our search took us to the very south-east of Sicily, to a small town called Pachino.
If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a little paradise by the sea, famous across Italy for its cherry tomatoes — the Pomodoro di Pachino IGP. That name means they’re protected for their quality and origin, a mark of how special they are.
The secret is the land itself. The salty sea breeze, endless sunshine and mineral-rich soil all come together to create tomatoes that are naturally sweet, juicy and bursting with flavour.
They have this perfect balance — a little sweetness, a gentle touch of salt from the nearby sea, and a freshness that only Sicily can give.
The farmers there still work by hand, just as their parents and grandparents did. They pick each tomato with care, respecting the rhythm of the land.
When we met a small family-run producer in Pachino who made their sauce the traditional way — no shortcuts, no additives, just patience and passion — we knew straight away: this was the one.
The Sauce
Our Pachino Cherry Tomato Sauce is everything we hoped for, pure, simple, and full of heart.
It’s made in small batches with hand-picked tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, onion, carrot, celery, basil and a touch of sea salt. That’s it. No preservatives, no added sugar — just honest ingredients, cooked slowly and lovingly.
Open a jar and you’re instantly transported: the smell of ripe tomatoes and fresh basil, like stepping into a Sicilian kitchen on a warm afternoon.
It’s the sort of sauce that makes you close your eyes and smile.
Bringing Sicily to Your Table 🌞
This sauce means more to me than food. It’s a connection — to my family, to my island, to those golden summer days that shaped who I am.
And I love knowing that when you taste it, you’re sharing that story too.
So whether you stir it through pasta, spread it on pizza, or spoon it over warm bruschetta, I hope it brings a little bit of Sicily into your home — and maybe a little bit of sunshine too.
Because in the end, it’s not just tomato sauce.
It’s Sicily in a jar!
Buon appetito!
from our kitchen to yours.
